CASC’s 17th Annual Conference is expected to welcome over 150 delegates from across our country. This three-day conference, hosted by the Discovery Centre, features pre and post-conference activities, engaging learning sessions, keynote speakers, and networking events that include a welcome reception, a trade-show and our CASCADE Awards Gala.

Please note: This should be used as a personal agenda. You do NOT need to register for any concurrent sessions. Seating is on a first come, first served basis so you may want to pick 2-3 choices in each time frame in case one of your choices is full. If there is a session you really want to attend, get there early to ensure you have a seat!

Le 17e congrès annuel de l’ACCS prévoit accueillir 150 délégués en provenance des quatre coins du pays. Organisé par Discovery Centre, ce congrès de trois jours comprend des activités pré et post-congrès, des sessions de formation stimulantes, des conférenciers d’honneur et des événements de réseautage qui incluent une réception d’accueil, un salon professionnel et notre Gala des Prix CASCADE.

Veuillez noter: SCHED doit être utilisé comme un agenda personnel. Vous n’avez PAS besoin de vous inscrire à des sessions simultanées. Les places sont réservées selon le principe du premier arrivé, premier assis, alors vous pouvez faire deux ou trois choix dans chaque période au cas où l’un de vos choix serait complet. S’il y a une session à laquelle vous voulez vraiment assister, venez tôt pour vous assurer d’avoir une place!

Sarah Ryan, Program Director, Brilliant Labs Nova Scotia
Sarah has been active in the science and technology education fields for over nine years. She currently holds the position of Program Director at Brilliant Labs Nova Scotia. In this role, she is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting innovative programming to enhance digital literacy skills and project-based learning initiatives for teachers, students, and community groups across Nova Scotia. These practices, based on the Maker Education model, include ensuring that learning is fun and relevant, promoting the use of tools, materials, and technologies to solve every day challenges. She has participated in numerous events, panel discussions, and guest speaking engagements on various topics including the necessity of closing the gender gap in science and technology, opportunities associated with technology and entrepreneurship, and youth technology education. In 2018, she was the keynote speaker for the Vancouver Island Learning Network (VILN) Learning Conference on "Coding and Design Thinking".
Sarah has been a strong advocate and role model for girls and young women, encouraging participation and career seeking within STEM and ICT fields. In 2018, she was the recipient of Digital Nova Scotia’s “Power IT Up: Next Generation Leadership" award. This was one of three Digital Diversity awards which are presented annually to support and to honour both female leadership and diversity champions in ICT sectors. She is the recipient of the 2019 "Rising Star" award from Women in Communications and Technology (WCT).
